CHAPTER SIX

ORGANIZATION OF THE HUMAN SOCIETY

I.

Israel's role in humanity.

We have seen how the idea of Judaism is the nationality and how all peoples are at the Jewish perspective, a large family whose God is the common Father. When will this world of nations he begins to exist? If the normal state of mankind is in a sense, as we have had occasion to say, he who has preceded the election of Israel, as there was then no duality, we believe that this same duality that resulted from the mission in front of the Israelite polytheistic Gentiles was like in all levels of nature the source and condition of greater fertility and a return to a unit not rudimentary, homogeneous, as there is in the lower stages of creation, but harmonically complex beings like the highest and most perfect.

The election Israelite thus marks the moment when the world of nations is designed, humanity becomes a real body by coordinating around its natural center. The link that should connect all parts of the great social body is created and that the Jewish priesthood. Also the birth of Israel and its election are they simultaneous, since it is formed solely for the universal mission he has to fulfill. This mission is the rationale for the chosen people and not for arbitrariness on the part of Providence. If the Pentateuch speaks of the love that God has testified to the patriarchs, we do not hide that [1] Hebrews were not better than other peoples, and that nothing in them does particularly deserved the divine choice. It is therefore in the Jewish election as a special ability to realize one day the world ends providential. God created Israel as an instrument to accomplish his purpose and that is why we repeat the Bible in many passages which he was elected before birth.

This also explains the relatively late appearance of the Act and the priesthood or, rather, the final organization of the creative Word. It's here again the law of progress is making its dual action on the constitution of human society and on developing the initial idea, that is to say on the outside as on the spiritual side humanity and the first days of creation. She directs both the creative order and evolutionary order. In the first, the man appears as the last and at the same time the most perfect work of God. In the other, we see the evolution of germs constituent bring in plant and animal kingdoms of the specific type of perfection and development of human society lead to the establishment of the priesthood of Israel, which connects the nations and must realize the future unity of mankind. In the spiritual realm, the evolution of the creative idea produced the Law of Sinai and even Hegel could say that the idea becomes conscious of itself in man, and we believe that the idea the world, not the absolute idea, God the Father, who possesses in its fullness, but the Logos, becomes aware of its existence and manifests. This event does not occur in all men or a particular individual, but in man the revelation in the model offered for our meditation, in an ideal land, a book that you'll never get completely lessons but still better listening becomes more intelligible. This is what the rabbis meant when they said that without the Torah the very laws that govern the heavens and the earth exist [2] or when they saw the sixth day of Genesis alludes to the sixth day of Sivan, S. [3] date of the revelation at Sinai, which was actually completed them after the work of creation. [4] We read in Schaar Ora words that sum up pretty well all the above and prove that we are exposing the real Jewish doctrine: "It does not suit Israel was created, if not after all other nations "which is in harmony with the nature of creation, because man is the elite and lower species for which all things were created, did not appear until the last, well you will not find nation in the world that emerged after Israel. " It would be fairer to say that Israel is the last nation to the east and either the date of its appearance, either by its geographical position, he held an intermediate position between the ancient and the modern world, between Eastern nations and peoples of the West, as well as its particular religion it serves as a gateway, a bridge between each other. To be remembered because of what we have said of the synthetic nature of dogma or eclectic Hebrew conciliatory, according to Kabbalah, the two Aryan and Semitic tendencies and the special role that we assigned to the doctrine of assimilation by elective affinity all the scattered fragments of truth in the various religions of the Gentiles. We then recognize that in the religious and moral, as in the order of history, Israel is truly the center of the circumference and that it has rightly been called the heart of humanity. It forms the point where it is unified and the means by which it is united with God that the Midrash calls the heart of Israel, "Where do we learn, he says, God is the heart of Israel? In Psalm which says: The Creator is my heart, God is my portion forever Psalm LXXIII [5] ".

The rabbis were quick to point out that central position occupied by Israel vis-à-vis the Gentiles. They say that Palestine is the world's heart, the heart of Jerusalem Palestine, the heart of Jerusalem Temple and finally the stone on which rested the Ark of the Covenant is the heart of the Holy of Holies and therefore the center of the universe, because, they say, is this stone that has formed the basis for the creation of the world. The same idea is no less clearly stated in Midrash , which expresses a touching manner the universalist aspirations of Judaism, "Rabbi Bérahia began with the verse (Song of Songs): We have a little sister . What [6] is, he says, this little sister? It's (the family) of Abraham all those who come into this world became so many brothers [7] ". They are nice people who, according to the Midrash take this language and call little sister family of Abraham. Other doctors have said explicitly that the seventy nations of the world are related to Abraham and his descendants [8].

A powerful Italian thinker, Gioberti, seems to have had a wonderful insight of the Jewish doctrine, when he wrote these words which we quote as a summary of the same doctrine: "Israel is the core of the unification of mankind [9] ". That is why the Rabbis have given Israel the name of Adam par excellence because, they said, it was through him that the individuality of Adam and it reappears as a group formed around him that will restore fallen humanity.
