About Hareidi.org

Torah scholarship with Yiras Shamayim.

Hareidi.org was founded to share the treasures of our mesorah with English-speaking Hareidi readers. We seek to be one link in its chain: receiving what earlier generations have handed down, learning in light of Chazal and our Rabbeim, and transmitting it faithfully with Yiras Shamayim.

Our purpose

An open door to the beis midrash.

“We are not the beginning of the mesorah, but a link in its chain. May our learning always be in the light of Chazal and our Rabbeim.”

Editorial principle · Hareidi.org design proposal

Hareidi.org was created to help English-speaking learners encounter the sefarim of our mesorah in Hebrew and English. We approach these works as a received inheritance, not as outsiders to their tradition. With foundational texts now more widely available, our contribution can be rare works, faithful translations, documented editions, and focused research, always in the light of Chazal and our Rabbeim and with Yiras Shamayim.

Free resources will emphasize original texts, core translations, source guides, and articles that help readers enter the teachings of Chazal and our Rabbeim. Each edition should identify its sources, distinguish the author's words from our own explanations, and record meaningful corrections openly, so that we pass on what we have received with care.

This site is an independent Rabbinic research and publishing project. It does not represent or serve as a public directory for other research institutions.

Editorial principles

Faithful transmission and editorial responsibility.

01

Our place in the chain

We receive the sefarim as an inheritance and seek to transmit them faithfully, preserving their language, documenting editions, and distinguishing translation from explanation.

02

Harbatzas Torah

Make core sefarim, faithful translations, and worthwhile Torah articles freely available to all learners.

03

Learning with Yiras Shamayim

Learn in light of Chazal and our Rabbeim, with humility about the limits of our understanding. Our scholarly observations must remain distinct from the received text and earlier commentaries.

04

Editorial accountability

Identify variant readings and emendations transparently, so our editorial work remains answerable to the sources entrusted to us.

Publishing philosophy

Free sefarim.
Books for deeper study.

Foundational Rabbinic works and their core English translations should remain free online. Printed books offered through Amazon can add extensive explanatory commentary, introductions, textual notes, original studies, and carefully prepared anthologies.

This model keeps the words of our Rabbeim accessible. Its expanded commentary and studies are offered as aids to learning their teachings in the light of the mesorah, never as replacements for the sefarim themselves.

History of the project

Preserving the earlier library.

The earlier Hareidi English website included Rabbinic reference material, Hebrew–English educational projects, and resources concerning the Hareidi community. Its library featured works such as Maharatz Chajes's Mevo HaTalmud and Benamozegh's Israël et l'Humanité.

Rather than discarding that work, a migration should keep useful legacy URLs available where possible and preserve page history, editorial attribution, and earlier editions. Content that is outdated or no longer part of the site's core mission can remain in a clearly labeled historical archive.

Deployment note: This static prototype does not modify or replace the existing MediaWiki website. Any migration should begin with a URL inventory and backups.
